Earlier last week I finished a Top Down Bonnet. Despite my gauge being larger than the pattern called for, the hat won't fit either of my kids. I decided to add some embroidery and gift it to my favorite baby friend. As you can see, she really likes it. I'll be casting on again soon to make one that fits Anneliese.
Spiral sock #2 is about 1/4 to 1/3 done. I'm finding the right twist to be more difficult to do than the left twist. It isn't hard to do, just fiddly-er.
I went to my first guild meeting last week with a local knitting guild. It was interesting and I plan to continue attending.

I finished the first Spiral Sock over the weekend. The increases for the gusset created some interesting pooling. Despite a return to the same stitch count as in the foot the sock top didn't stripe quite the same way. I still like it. :)
I also found some time to do some sewing. A bag for me!
Sorry for the terrible picture quality. I know it's operator error, but I'm not sure what went wrong this time.

I've been busy, busy, busy lately. I finished the socks I was knitting for Stephanie and met up with her to swap them. She is lovely and we had lots of fun together. You can see the socks she knit me here, I haven't taken any pictures of them yet.
Oriel Socks
Started: May 2007
Finished: July 2007
Yarn: Fleece Artist Sea Wool
Color: Parrot
Needles: Knit Picks US1 24" (2)
Pattern: Oriel from Sensational Knitted Socks
I started another pair of socks last night. This time they are for me.
The pattern is Swirl Socks and can be found here. I'm knitting them with Socks that Rock Medium weight in Henpecked. Very smooshy. :)
I also started a hat for Anneliese. It's a top down bonnet.
I'll be adding a Totoro face to it once it's done.
I've also got a couple bags in progress and a few projects I'm sewing for the kids.

The only knitting I've been doing is on my swap socks and I can't show yo
u that. So, more sewing content! I made Anneliese a twirly skirt from the gorgeous cherries fabric I won from SewMamaSew. She loves it.
My first sale went to my lovely, talented, wonderful friend Jess. She has great taste. :)

As a favor for a friend I sewed a quilted bag from fabrics she picked. I love it so much that I will be making one for myself. And possibly some for an Etsy shop. I've been thinking about it for quite a while and I think it would be a great outlet for my creativity.
I've been knitting away on my swap socks and not making any progress. I started with a gusset and heel flap (headed toe up) and didn't like how the gusset looked so I ripped it and decided to try a short row heel. I didn't like that one either. I think it made the sock shorter that it should have been, too. Stephanie, do you have a heel preference for a heel on a toe up sock? There is a whole page of sock toes and heels here.
I sewed another little outfit for Anneliese. She's very appreciative of the clothes I make for her, which keeps me making them. This was my first time working with a ruffle since I was 12 or so. I learned a few things and the next one will be even better.
I just finished earlier today a skirt for Anneliese, but I don't have pictures yet. Look for another post in a day or two. And as always, more photos are available on my Flickr account, the link is on the right side. At least, I think that's where it is.
I've been putting together swap packages for a few swaps I'm in. I really enjoy putting packages together for other people.
I never posted pictures of the finished Swallowtail Shawl. It turned out great and my Grandma loved it.

The super-secret sock yarn arrived and I've been knit, knit, knitting away on it. I'm almost to the heel of the first foot headed toe-up. I have fallen head over heels for this yarn and color. It will definitely be going on the wish list. I would love to share pictures, but, well, I can't, yet. :p

I ordered yarn for a sock swap almost 2 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for it to arrive. I grumble at delayed shipping! I haven't started anything new because I want to knit this yarn that isn't at my house yet. I sewed a nightgown for Anneliese from a thrifted sheet. She loves it. I've got lots of new fabric I should share pictures of. That is all.

I did it! The Swallowtail Shawl is off the needles. I can't begin to describe the feeling of relief I have that it is cast off. I ordered blocking wires yesterday and upgraded to three day shipping. I will have a FO post with pictures middle of next week.
The Totoro is growing. And then socks for my pal Stephanie. Yipee!

Ok, so I'm a bit behind schedule. The Swallowtail Shawl isn't done yet. I have 5 rows and binding off to do. It will be done by the end of the week and washing and blocking will happen on the weekend. It will be so!
Oh, and I taught myself to crochet and have started the Totoro. Heh. Explains a bit of the above..... ;)
